This article collection is part of a series that examines the advancements in parathyroid disease diagnosis and treatment: Current Perspectives in the Diagnosis of Parathyroid Disease Recent Advances in the Treatment of Parathyroid Disease There have been significant advances in the treatment of parathyroid disease, with increased therapeutic options for clinicians. They include molecularly targeted drugs for the treatment of thyroid cancer and calcimimetics for the treatment of hyperparathyroidism. Intraoperative neuromonitoring and minimally invasive techniques have become established in parathyroid surgery. While there has been advances and evolution there is still controversy on the exact role, utility, and benefits of these interventions. In this Research Topic, we aim to address advances and controversies in the management of common parathyroid conditions, focusing on indications for surgical intervention, surgical approach, or specific medical treatments. Of particular interest is the treatment of hyperparathyroidism.
