Book excerpt: The Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Services Division of the National Weather Service (NWS) within the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) presents hydrologic forecasts for the Iowa cities of Davenport and Bettendorf and the Illinois cities of Moline and Rock Islands. These four cities are known as the Quad Cities. The AHPS provides river forecasts that account for precipitation already on the ground, as well as future precipitation.
