(Both Messiah in Hebrew and Christ in Greek mean "the Anointed One"). One writer has listed the Messianics this way: 2 The glory of the Son 40 The Incarnation 91 The Temptation 41 Betrayal 22 The Crucifixion 69 The guilt offering 16 The Resurrection 68 The Ascension 45 The King-Husband 24 The King of Glory 110 The Priest-King-Judge 8 The Last Adam 72 The Millennial Kingdom 89 The Covenant with David 102 The One Who Doesn't Change 118 The Angle Head The same writer warns: "We must be careful to distinguish between the spiritual experience of the psalm writer and the prophetic reference that he makes to Christ. Psalm 69 is an example. When David exclaims, "God, you know my folly, and my sins are not hidden from you," it is evident that he is referring to himself. But when he says, "They also gave me gall for food, and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink," it is clear that the words are messianic. The New Testament uses them in Matthew 27:34, 48.
