This book was released on 1975 with total page 43 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The training effectiveness of two training devices, the EC2LP simulator (SIM) and the maintenance training unit (MTU), were compared using trainees attending regular O-level aviation maintenance courses. These courses taught knowledge factors required to maintain the hydraulic, environmental, and power plant systems of the T-2C aircraft. A Training Device Questionnaire (TDQ) was developed to measure trainee and instructor attitudes toward various training factors associated with the two devices. Factor-analysis of the TDQ resulted in six factors labeled Reinforcement, Individualized Training, Media Comparison, Training Deficiencies, Utility and Training Fidelity. The criteria of effectiveness were a written post-test, and a special performance test which emphasized parts location and proper use of maintenance manuals. The results showed that both training devices met these criteria equally well despite the finding that those who were trained on the simulators were younger, had a lower pay grade, and had spent fewer months in the Navy than those who were trained on the MTUs. Overall attitudes toward both training devices were favorable, although the MTUs were reported by the trainees to be more training deficient than the simulators.
