Book excerpt: This report details the methodology and results of an archaeological reconnaissance of the Lower Ohio River Navigation Area, Illinois and Kentucky, being considered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District. The reconnaissance resulted in the identification of 53 previously unrecorded archaeological sites and the relocation of 3 documented sites ranging from the Middle Archaic (ca. 4000 BC) to the mid-19th-early 20th centuries. Several sites were considered to be significant, and recommendations for additional work are contained within the report.
