That was a time when anyone leaving the country was considered a traitor, especially for a person previously integrated into the revolution. It was a very long and painful process, with four children and leaving the country penniless. This is my story of how we were able to overcome all the hurdles, disappointments, frustrations, and setbacks traveling first to Spain and later to the United States.
