He is of Opinion, too, that the object in front is what in every-day parlance we call a man. But he can substantiate his opinion with solid reasons. He walks upright, not on all fours. He has arms and legs, not fore-legs and hind-legs. He has fingers on his hands and toes on his feet, that preserve due proportions. These, indeed, are good reasons; but not final, not what our definition styles the last and most universal causes.
